New York Insurance Exam in Spanish: What the 78.3% Non-Pass Rate Really Means

New York published an unusually clear warning for Spanish-language candidates: only 21.69% of 166 examinees passed the combined Life, Accident & Health exam in 2025. The answer is not a translated quiz. It is a complete bilingual learning path that teaches both the national concepts and New York law.

The official result: 78.31% did not pass

The New York DFS report counts examinees, not repeat attempts. It also separates exam language from voluntarily reported race, ethnicity, education and gender. Those categories are not interchangeable.

The Spanish group is much smaller than the English group, so the exact percentage can move from year to year. The 2025 result is nevertheless too serious to treat language support as an optional extra.

The exam itself does not become smaller in Spanish

A candidate still has to connect product knowledge, policy provisions, taxation, suitability, licensing duties and New York rules under time pressure. Memorizing isolated Spanish terms is not enough.

  • 150 multiple-choice questions in the combined series 17-55.
  • Two hours and 30 minutes of testing time.
  • 105 correct answers, or 70%, required to pass.
  • At least 40 hours of approved combined prelicensing education for most resident applicants.

What the data require from a serious learning system

CertiAcademy's New York program begins with a chapter-level diagnostic, then teaches the rule behind every answer. Missed concepts return through spaced review instead of disappearing after one quiz.

The full program is designed for English and Spanish from the start: more than 1,300 learning questions, including 500 New York-specific questions, detailed explanations for correct and incorrect choices, and full-length simulations matching the published exam format.

Why Pass Protection matters

A failed examination adds another fee and delays the licensing path. CertiAcademy's 12-month package therefore includes Pass Protection: candidates who meet the displayed eligibility conditions and still do not pass receive a six-month access extension at no extra cost.

Pass Protection extends access; it does not promise a particular examination result or reimburse state, course or licensing fees. The New York web app is available now, with a free diagnostic before purchase.
